DAZ Monster and Creature Render Contest

We are gonna run a DAZ Monster/Creature contest to see who can render the best scary scene with one of the following DAZ characters.

You may use:
1. Fiend
2. Skullcrusher Ogre
3. Infernal Behemoth
4. Any Genesis Creature
5. Any Generation 4 monster/creature
6. or Any other DAZ scary looking figure you can come up with


Official Rules of the contest

1. You must be logged in to your DAZ3D Forum account to submit a valid entry. We will not accept Annonymous or Guest Entries.
2. Submit your image in .jpg format to the appropriate contest thread.
3. Upload you image using the Post Reply - Browse to Attachment feature (In other words please do not link to your image but rather post it to the thread)
4. Keep your images under 400 KB
5. Keep the size of your image to 800 x 800 Max for easier viewing. If you feel your composition would be better served in a wide format or one that is high, please feel free to use any proportion you like up to those numbers. (Example: 800 x 600 or 600x800 etc just be sure not to let any dimension go beyond 800)
6. Submit no more then 1 image.
7. Include the following information in the post that accompanies your entry:
1. Figure used
2. Image Title
3. Software Used to Create the Image.
* Any images that do not have this information will be disqualified
8. Minimal Post-work to your image.
9. Follow the DAZ Terms of Service. No nudity, extreme violence or profanity will be allowed.
10. Please enter images created specifically for this contest and not previously available for public viewing.

* Note: By entering this contest, you agree to allow DAZ3D to use any artwork you submit in any promotional materials they may choose.

Contest close date July 15, 2013, Midnight DAZ time

Prizes:

DAZ 3D If participation is high, you never know, the prizes could get even bigger.

$10 Gift Certificate to each of the category winners.

    Does that mean I don't have to use any yucky human base figures?

    Here's an example of using the Gigalien Parts on The Daz Cow (with a couple bits from Swidhelm's Alien) which I did a while ago and am unsure if this sort of concept is a no go because it doesn't use any yucky humans (and for that matter, the Swidhelm Alien is not even a DAZ Product, but a ShareCG Freebie and I'm not quite sure if this is limited to DAZ Only items or at least *some* DAZ Items, or if Anything Goes!)

    Picture just to illustrate my question, and is Not an entry!

    Yes you can use animals for your renders.

    Just post your images here and at the end I will split them off to a contest thread. This way the thread don't get lost.

    Please clarify this point; I do all of my rendering in DazStudio, but I post work in Photoshop with a set of filters.. For example (not an entry):

    Using filters etc is fine, we just don't want tons and tons of postwork where the entire image is completely changed by it (like where tons of parts are painted in...we wanted to concentrate more on the render then what can be done to it after (if that makes sense) Some postwork is allowed, just don't go crazy.

    DAZ Monster and Creature Render Contest

    So I would assume that you are limited to using Daz monsters and creatures.

    We debated back and forth, with the release of all the cool new ones and a rather large list of existing monsters on this website from the likes of RawArt, Midnight Stories, Luthbel etc, I think for this contest we are going to stick with DAZ3D Monsters since there is a pretty wide array of them. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but the contest was started because me and hubby really wanted to see all the cool renders of the monsters here so I think keeping with the spirit in which the contest was created, we want to keep it as Monsters and Creatures here on DAZ3D :)

    I apologize if I am being daft - when you say Monsters and Creatures here on DAZ3D, do you mean DAZ originals, like the new monsters they have been rolling out, or any monsters found on the DAZ site, like monsters from RawArt, Luthbel, etc? I only ask because I want to be 100% clear on the rules before I waste any time making a render that doesn't qualify.

    When it comes to monsters, there ain't no school like old school. So, here's "Tall Dark Stranger."

    I actually did an alternate version with film grain and scratches added and it was kind of spooky how close it looked to original frame grabs, but some of the fine details did get lost so I ultimately went with the straight presentation.

    The Genesis Gorilla & Mr. Hyde mixed to get the classic Big K look. Set is Rocky flats and Rock Outcrop, backdrop image from CGTextures.com. Girl is Genesis mix of yT Julie and V5, with Paxton Hair, the Bad Guy for Genesis' T-Shirt and Hitomi's panties. All done in DS4.5 Pro, converted to B&W and scaled in Adobe Photoshop CS6 (plus one annoying branch removal.)

    Edit - just saw the size restrictions.

    And for those kids who don't groove on the Dore-inspired Blacks and Whites of Willis H. O'Briens masterwork, here's the "colorized" version.

    Edit: and whoops again, just to be clear, this version of "Tall Dark Stranger" isn't an entry. It's just what the image looked like before I turned it B&W. Please delete if necessary.

    Figure used: Cthulhu by Luthbel
    Additional Figure: Castle Ruins by Stonemason (I think it was Stonemason)
    Software used: DAZ3D, no plugins.
    Postwork: GIMP using Ron's Water brushes (for the bubbles) from Deviney's DAZ store

    as meaning we can only submit one entry? Or, as someone just asked me, does it mean one just one image per entry? ('Cause I whole gotta lotta monster renders percolating in my head.)

    It means you can only add 1 image to the thread.

    I think the point of the contest is to use the various creature morphs available at DAZ to make an original monster, not just post a pic using a premade one. Unless I misunderstood?
