Daz3D 4.9 not starting

hi there, i'm having difficulties starting Daz3d and was hoping for some help.

since i couldn't find a similar thread in the forums, i'm creating this new thread but, should this problem be known and solved already,

i'd appreciate any links.

so, i've had Daz3d on my old pc and it worked fine. after receiving a new computer, i stuffed my HDD into the new

one and installed a new and fresh win 7 pro version on a SSD (so daz3d and the new windows are not on the same drive).

after uninstalling and reinstalling daz3d though, it didn't want to start.

the splash screen pops up and after initialization, the program just freezes. i've included a screenshot of what i can see before i

have to close the application.

as i said, i'm using Windows 7 Professional, got a Geforce GTX 1070 from Gigabyte and am using 64 GB DDR4 of RAM with an

Intel i7 6800k 3,4 Ghz Prozessor; so i think my hardware should be able to handle Daz ^^'

Though i'm using an older graphics driver (373.06) since the newest one had compatibility problems with many

programs i use, such as several games and poser 11 pro.

any ideas ?

i'd appreciate any kind of help, thanks.

That looks as if it si almost there. If you press F3 does the Customise dialogue open?

  • nope, nothing happens

Looks as if the CMS hasn't started or can't get through the firewall, it needs access to an internal port.

  • so what should i do to solve this CMS problem then? i just tried deactivating both windows and norton firewalls, which didn't help :/

Is PostgreSQL loaded and running? It should show in the Windows Task manager as postgres.exe

  • negative, there is no postgres.exe in the task manager to be found

    Then it isn't starting.

Open DIM, click on Installed and type Postgres into the search box. If it is downloaded and installed it should show up in there.

  • ok so it wasn't installed, but it was ready to download, so i downloaded and installed it. after installation, i tried to run Daz3d

and the application still didn't progress past the point seen in my screenshot, but that postgres.exe showed up in the

    taskmanager.... 8 times

8 times is normal, I have eleven at the moment :)

You have smart content open, what is showing under Content Library?

  • well, you've seen the screenshot, right? all those black areas in said screenshot are actually showing my desktop background.

as soon as i click anywhere within the window, it gets greyed out and the system tells me Daz is not responding anymore, giving

me the option to either close the window, wait for a response or look for an online solution. waiting doesn't help though :/

so basically, when i click on the content library tab, that's what happens ^^'

Graphic Driver up to date? I'm stuck for any other answers. In the Task Manager is Studio still showing it is working or is it showing zero activity.

Have you tried updating your video driver - the desktop showing through does sound like a display issue.

    @Richard

Isn't there a thread somewhere that says the 1070 cards need a certain driver to work with the latest Studio?

  • well, as i mentioned in the original post, i am using an older driver. it's the driver version before the newest.

i installed the newest nvidia driver two times and both times most of my games would crash as well as Poser 11 being unable

to use the GPU rendering. so, should the driver be the culprit, i'd have a real problem, because i'd have to render 70% of my

software useless only to get Daz running :/

in the task manager, daz is not responding as soon as i click anywhere. last time i waited longer, my computer eventually crashed and

wouldn't start for a while, being stuck in a booting loop for two or three minutes. not sure if i want to risk waiting for too long again ^^'

still, thanks for trying. i really appreciate the effort you've put into this!
