Can I get Poser primitives for my DAZ Studio 4.9?

I like to get models from other places. But they sometimes are made from primitives that Poser has, like cylTex.obj and box.obj. Can I get those primitives for my DAZ Studio 4.9 so I can use those models built with those Poser primitives?

Anything that is in Wavefront object format (.obj) can be imported into DAZ Studio. During the import stage a pop-up will ask you to specify a scale - if from Poser you should specify Poser scale since that differs from DAZ Studio scale, and it should import at the correct size. Now, if the objects have been textured, the textures may or may not import correctly, and certainly any Poser shaders will not work properly, so you'll need to do some work there. It is always advisable to ensure that any texture maps are located in the same folder as the object so the .mtl file has the best chance of importing them.
At the risk of asking you to spend money (lol), if you use primitives a lot to build things, I have a pack with all the weird shapes you could wish for. It was specifically designed for people who like to assemble their own strange objects, and it's all in DAZ Studio format, so very easy to use.

SixDs, unfortunately, I'm not asking how to import obj primitives. I'm asking where I can get the obj's to import. Where can I get cylTex.obj and box.obj? Is there a website that offers these files for download?
maclean, unfortunately, I'm not asking where I can get primitives in general. I'm asking where I can get specific ones used in Poser because I get models that call specifically for them.
But I do happen to use primitives quite a bit recently. And I got somenice ones for free from folks over on ShareCG. But as I want do do more building in da future, I may go for fancy ones like yours.
They come by default with Poser. They'll be under Runtime\Geometries\CP Partners\Dimension3D in obz format, which you can use an unzipping utility to extract the obj. There are more directly within Runtime\Libraries\Props\Primitives as well, also in obz format.
you can just substitute another obj cube you rename, the scale might be different
ballUV3 is 24x24x24cm and 35 polys around and 30 up total 1050
it loads rotated 90 x axis
Ball_1 is 19x19x19cm and 24 polys around and 12 up total 288
Box_1 is 24x24x24 cm and 8 polys cubed total 384
the cone is 24x24x24 cm and 30 polys radially on the base and another 30 on the rest total 60
The cylinder is 24x24x24cm and 30 polys on each end and the tube total 90
the square is 24x24cm and one poly
the cloth plane is 170x170cm and 64x64 total 4096 polys
The torus is 59x11x59cm and has 35 segments of 11 polys around the diameter total 385
I wil not bother with cane or stairs unless you need them then can look
You can create them in DAZ studio using those parameters and export an obj with those names to load when it looks for files
th3Digit, thanks for the info on those Poser primitives!
Was there one called "box.obj" instead of "box_1.obj"?
Poser models typically call for precisely "box.obj" at the path Runtime/geometries/props/box.obj
I have reason to suspect that "box.obj" differs from "box_1.obj", as when I made my own "box.obj" to match the dimentions you report for "box_1.obj", there were scaling and positioning problems.
I had loaded the pp2 files in Carrara for the measurements as that is how they would be loaded from a scene
loading the obz gives 10"cubed (importing 3.05m my Scene Preferences metric) but it may also need to be exported from DAZ studio using the Poser obj preset
DAZ studio I would need to use measure metrics I guess, I never have as I do not generally make things there.
Look around for a good deal on an old version of poser. The primitives haven't changed much.
Well. I was just hoping that maybe someone had offered the Poser primaries for download somewhere. Apparently this is not the case. And to get these primaries, I simply must obtain a complete copy of poser.
