DS 4.9.3.166 64bit will not use GPU on alienware laptop

Hi all
Been using DS quite a bit and wondering why my renders were so slow ... I've always had both CPU and GPU selected in both photoreal and interactive ...
So I downloaded GPU-Z today to have a closer look at what it going on under the hood and ... only my CPU is processing the render. My GPU load is 0%
So I changed my photoreal and interactive render devices to both be GPU only and ... it does not render anything at all. Even a trivial scene with only a vase and a background. No render activity whatsoever.
I'm running an Alienware laptop (windows 10) with 8 GB Ram, an nvidia geforce GTX 965M (2GB) and a 1TB HD that is only 50% full.
In my nvidia control panel my nvidia GPU is selected as the default graphics processor. Under programs, I have DS specifically configured as nvidia GPU always.
I have tried every possible config that I can think of and still it refuses to use the nvidia gpu to render.
I have already search the web and forums to see if this has been solved by others already but I did not find a solution that worked for me.
Any help to sort this out would be appreciated. Thank you

Problem solved.
Upgraded nvidia drivers to version 982.05
Happy rendering
