Genesis 3 skeleton

Is there a way to remove a skeleton from a Genesis 3 figure before exporting it to FBX, or even replacing it with a Genesis 2 skeleton?

I don't get why you want to do such a thing... But it means a total re-rig of the char...
If you just like a G3 char you can buy GenX2 and transfer the morph!

You're right... it's not something I would like to do under normal circumstances.  However, the reason behind it is because the Genesis 3 skeleton seems to have issues with third party auto-riggers such as Mixamo.  Since Genesis 2 (and before) skeletons don't have as many issues, yet the brunt of my library is Genesis 3, I'm trying to find a way to Auto-Rig genesis 3 so I can move it into programs like 3DS Max where I can apply either a biped rig or a cat rig.

I wanted to see if 1) using a genesis 2 skeleton on a Genesis 3 figure would solve this problem or 2) completely removing the Genesis 3 skeletons from the morphs would allow for Mixamo to completely build a new rig so I could import the figure into Max and apply the biped or cat there.

Hopefully, Mixamo and/or other 3rd party auto-rigging systems will solve their issues with the skeletons and we won't have to find work-arounds, but until then, I'm still looking for new ways to experiment.

This is actually pretty easy to do, but depending on what you're after, could end up just causing a whole lot of problems. You can use the transfer tool to take G2F's rigging and plop it into G3F. Firstly it might be helpful to dial the G2F shape into G3F. I think you'll end up with a lot of problems with clothing. A lot of it will need need to be re-rigged.

Well... it kinda worked and it kinda didn't.  With the transfrer utility, I can definitely re-rig the figure to be auto-rigged by a 3rd party, but it is unable to interpolate correctly... especially the hands.  Don't ask me about the hands!

I hadn't actually tried it out, but I just gave it a go and see what you mean. I haven't used auto riggers before. That sounds like all sorts of horror to me.

you can convert to prop if you want to remove the rigging

    not sure if that helps

DING DING DING!!!!   We have a winner!  (At least when it comes to trying to do what I am doing).  Converting to prop is the answer

In order to use the Mixamo Auto rigging feature for Genesis 3, you have to convert Genesis 3 figure into a prop in DAZ, THEN load it into Mixamo (No one who has gotten Genesis 3 to work on Mixamo has mentioned this... and it's kind of a big deal).  This is because the Genesis 3 skeleton isn't compatible with Mixamo.  Once you remove that skeleton, and and then load it, Mixamo will use put it's own rig in the figure (prop) which can THEN be loaded (as an FBX) into 3DS Max where you can apply the cat or biped rig.  THEN, you have a fully rigged Genesis 3 model!

Now clothing is another story... however, I am still experimenting with this, and I think I can make it work!

Thanks so much for all your help!
