hair poking though hat help

I need some help figuring out how to prevent hair from poking though hats. I've found some products that prevent this but they're for genesis 2 or 3 and I'm I still working with genesis 1.

I don't know of anything in the Daz store, but the Sickle Super Hat and Hair Fixer over at Renderosity should meet your needs.

    Couple other options:

    • Add smoothing mod to hat and set collision with hair.
    • Or select hair using geometry editor (lasso selection) and set it to invisible (the parts under the hat).

    Sure.

    • Smoothing: Just select the hat in Scene Tab. Click on little hamburger menu icon. Edit > Geometry > Apply Smoothing modifier. Parameters tab > expand Hat > expand General > Mesh Smoothing > Collision Item > Pick the hair.
    • Geometry editor: Pick the hair in Scene. Tools > Geometry Editor. Pick Tool Settings tab. Hamburger icon. Set selection mode to Lasso. Lasso the top of the hair. Hamburger icon to set visibility of selected polys to invisible. This tutorial will go into more detail: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/166896/the-material-zone-tutorial-favorite-shaders-materials

Better known as a list menu...laugh

What I do is go into 'Geometry Editor'  mode and then 'Select by Polygon' with 'Shift' key pressed (adds to those polygons already selected) and then right click and 'hide selected polygons'

A Push Modifier, with a negative value, and adjusted by a weight map (Create>New Push Modifier Weight Node) is another option.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I've tried using the gemerty edtior but it seems to remove parts of the hat even if I add the hat after trying to hide parts of the hair. Its really anoying since all the promo pics for hats don't have any poke though. I trhink I'll just get that Hat and Hair Fixer from Renderosity. Hoefullly that will work as well as it claims.

mm,,,If geometry editor hide hair, it means you select hair and hair poligons, not hat. or the hat is offered with hair as one mesh?  Because geometry editor can only  hide poligons with your selection.  may better to know clear geometry editor usage, for future purpose.

I do not know, when fixmypcmike offered this tuotriall, but most of step should be correct about current daz studio too. (current version geoemtry editor may have some more option)

It help a lot to know Select poligons as you like with geometry editor ,with each select options.

then  you may need not to keep zero pose, you may bettrer try same step (hide selected hair poligons) with posing figure, posing hair,, or you will  need to adjust hiding parts with current hair posing again. (it frequently happen,,)

Well Stickleyeild's hat fixed went on sale so I just pucked that up. I think that might be easier for me to use then geometry edting . how ever  Ido have one more quick question. How do I conform things to each other. I need to conform the hair I want to use to the hair fixer then the hair fixer to genesis.
