Using files from previous versions of Daz in the newest release

Just getting restarted with Daz after a long hiatus.  In 2013 i started playing with Daz because a friend got all excited about the product, what with crashing machines that were unrecoverable and jobs lost, I lost interest.  So now Tom(my friend) has developed some Daz skills and I'm willing to try again.  Back in 2013 i bought the Victoria 5 Pro pack(for $60) for Daz 4.6.0.18.  I still have the download email, and I have the disk I originally installed Dazon including 107 files that i downloaded..  I recently downloaded the most recent version of Daz including genesis 3(etc) 4.9.3.166.

Does it make any sense to try and use some of the files i downloaded 4 years ago?  I'm opening the general question about backward compatibility within the Daz product line.  I know they are constantly improving the product and features (3 major releases in 4 years).  Tom tells me that there are issues about cross compatibility with new actors and some older objects.   Suggestions?

Most content made for earlier versions of DS should work in current version.

Just install DIM and install what you previously bought that way.

Yes cross compatibility among different generations is somewhat limited, though you can buy addons to improve things. So if you already have the V5 pack the best option for compatibility is to go on with V5 content. Or you can get a new fresh V7 pack and start all over again. Actually DS 4.9 supports from V4 to V7 quite fine. To be honest I don't know about V3 support, though I see her on the shop so I suppose she works fine too.
