[SOLVED?] DAZ Studio cameras no longer controllable

MeatRootsMeatRoots Posts: 22

Version 4.9.3.166
Windows 10

Installed new purchases (characters, props, script, plugin) and now I am no longer capable of using camera controls in viewport. Whether I click the cube or the icons beside it, the camera (predefined views and default) shudders erratically all over. Under the Parameters tab, the default camera controls are functional. What I notice is that when I touch those viewpoint controls, the Z-rotate is the only thing that remains '0' while all -translate and X/Y-rotate fluctuate madly.

Uninstalled all new purchases. No change. I honestly thought it would have been Iray Light Manager Pro or perhaps entering the key for Animate2, but neither were the culprit.

Adding a figure, its viewport tools work fine (such as ActivePose and Universal Tool). Also, the default camera's viewport tools (using Univeral Tool).

I docked view controls. It takes away the cube, and the rotate/pan/zoom/bank icons are functional, but VERY limited (like, your camera hits a stop-bumper or something). So, with this in mind, I went and reverted back to Cube View Controls and then selected to Hide Camera Cube. The icons still cause the camera to become erratic. No luck with theorizing.

Any suggestions? I'm at a standstill.

Thanks in advance for all your replies.

Sounds vaguely familiar - you've not chnaged pointing device, or updated drivers or settings? Are you on a machine with a trackpad?

    No trackpad.

Last OS update was May 2 (had to do with something about Appraiser, nothing major).

    No drivers updated.

Still using same optical mouse. I just tested my Wacom mouse, same thing occurs.

Only thing I updated recently has been software programs, such as iClone and Hitfilm.

The one thing that has been irking me is the fact that my default scene has all of the sudden been saving to last set-up. It's all screwed-up now. I never save the empty scene because it's custom to how I want it to be. All of the sudden, I'm finding tabs missing, undocked, and render settings all different. I first noticed this in my first topic-posting, in which a setting somehow changed that I never touched. Now, everything's shifting whenever I open my default scene/style/settings.

    Thanks for responding, Richard.

    Something I noticed:
When I click the cube, it SNAPS to the face that is selected. Example: in order for me to manuever the cube, I have to click the FRONT face. It'll snap to it. If I continue to move the cube, as to orbit it, it flutters because it struggles to keep it facing front. Select RIGHT face, TOP face, whichever... it will snap to that view and struggle to keep it there if I dare to orbit/move it.

    **edit**
I'm wondering if the icons beside it are doing that same thing... kind of "snapping" just like the cube.

Not something I've seen reported by others, not sure what to suggest - my instinct would still be to suspect a mouse issue but I don't know what.

Well, Richard. What can I say. I have a ghost in the machine. I got back on after work to see what new info I can give to post. And...

My supposed default layout was still a disaster, like.. a default or something. But, I still loaded a figure (Genesis 2 Female) and once again tested the cube. AND IT WAS FINE. I state again... THE CAMERA DID WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO. The icons next to it also work.

I started a new scene and I set-up my layout the way I usually have it. I save it (I call it "my.default.duf", which always appears in my top title bar). But, I also save "save layout as" in Window>Workspace, in case I have this issue again with the layout going wonky. I check my Preferences to make sure things hadn't changed there. No. I restart.

I load Stephanie 5. Everything that had been giving me issues is no more.

I close, I get the typical pop-up, "Would you like to save changes...?" I select no.

Open back up, my layout stays the same. Load figure (Darius 7). Control cube and icons still work, and tested under all cameras (previews and default) & drawstyles (including iray). No issues. In fact, a little faster than usual.

All this, and not a single change/update since my last post last night.

For now, I'm closing this as [SOLVED?] since it has come down to being a two day quirk (and around 5 reboots of system and multiple program restarts).
