No.
I had it uninstalled for months; I've reinstalled it because the hard drive (an SSD, and it is a lot reads which shouldn't affect it, but as writes - which does affect it) gets spammed because Daz continually tries to connect. Now I ignore it; when I've time I'll check out the database residing on my computer - I hate that, but that's just me.
thanks for the reply although I'm not sure what you said.
I noticed that when Daz Studio is running Daz Postgre SQL CMS adds 7 extra processes to the registry that are using up memory and I was thinking that maybe Daz would run/load faster if removed.
so I can remove this and not screw up accessing my content?
If you're worried about memory the PostgreSQL processes use a trivial amount, maybe 10-20 MB in total. I really wouldn't recommend removing it without a good reason, as more and more functionality is being added that depends on it.
If you only use Content Library > Daz Studio Formats and Content Library > Poser Formats then you will still be able to access them that way. Products, Categories, Tags, Smart Content, Content Types will not work without it.

yeah since no one has posted saying that removing this is a good idea and makes Daz run faster I think I will follow your advice.
Personally I don't like the idea of a huge database always linked to DS. I believe this way of working is too much error-prone. To me Postgre SQL is a nonsense. I prefer to keep my content offline, organized my way, and to place in the content folder only the items I need for the current project. This way I have a content folder always clean. And also I am sure I don't screw up my files that are offline. So it's a win win.
Also because most content needs to be edited/polished anyway. It is not practical to leave it as is since it takes too much memory and/or rendering time. So I have my own "optimized version" of the packages that I build myself.
Anyway I don't uninstall Postgre SQL since I fear DS needs it. So it simply stays idle eating a few ram and doing nothing.
I haven't found any info googling that really explains what Daz Postgre SQL CMS does.
so the database pertains to what exactly?.
and I just realized that by right clicking the tab for the content pane there's an option to close down the CMS which I used and in doing so have shut down the extra processes I mentioned earlier.
It's the back end database for the Smart Content system in DAZ Studio.
Also used for any custom categories into which you categorize content in the the non-smart portion of content library.
