Nothing moves my selected object..

Every so often, I bring an object into the scene and matter what I click or choose in the scene tab, nothing can directly edit or move that item.

I have unparented it. NONE for parent...

un-click parent in place and still when I try to move it, the center of gravity bounding box moves and not the object...

Any ideas

A rigged figure or an imported prop?

    An imported prop.

Firstly, I bring it in and it moves to the center of my host figure. I can't get it to move from the gut area. I delete it and import using Cntrl and parent it to the head so now it's on the head, but no matter how I try to disconnect it, it won't budge and its bounding box responds to all the commands.

Will it move if you load it into an empty scene?

Yes, it'll move around when I load it into an empty scene.

When I ads it to the figure- it jumped to their midsection (hip) and wouldn't move.

I solved it (enough) by CNTRL bringing it in and parenting it directly to the figures head.

Still doesn't move but at least it's in the right place.

This does happen every so often, I suddenly lose the ability to control an item and I can only edit its bounding box.

It's a parented prop, not a fitted item, when it doesn't work?

You just went over my head. One of the times was this item.

    https://www.daz3d.com/scifi-medusa

I have no idea if it 'parents or fits' when I load it from the Smart Content browser.

But, I had my character selected as always and when I double clicked it it went straight to their hip.

I'd understand if HIP was selected on the figure but it wasn't. Let's say I'm careless and left HIP selected instead of,like genesis 2 male.

And it locked in on the hip area or bone or ....

What can't it be 'unlocked' or unparented or edited in any way after bringing it in?

I deleted it and started from scratch and this time dragged it on to the head directly.

It landed right on the head, perfectly, but then wouldn't respond to any editing attempts.

The bounding box responded to every edit and that's it.

The mystery is fine...I have no idea why that happens sometimes...

OK, that's a rigged figure not an imported prop (File>Import, that is). Are you using it on Genesis 3 Female or on a different figure?

    I'm not sure...oh no, it's a Genesis 3 figure in a suit.

    the one from this thread

If you look super close at the head-  that's the medusa helmet mixed in there.

But I had that today with another prop.

So there's something that you might have discovered.

Make sure, if using it with another figure, that it is not fitted - go to the Parameters pane and in Misc Settings you should see a button for Fit to, which should read None.

That's probably it. Thank you, again.
