The Cloak with a cloaking device.

-- Total weirdness and I don't have time to deal with this. lol

So I have a figure wearing this cloak....

Wild Hunt: Wildenlander for Michael 3

https://www.daz3d.com/wild-hunt-wildenlander-for-michael-3

What's crazy is, it's there live in the scene, but doesn't render.

And the character has a weird glowing outline around his head.

Checking the settings, I see that multiple parameters have question marks instead of values.

I turned a bunch of them to 100% and now I have the 'ghost cape'.

Which seems like the ultimate solution for making a ghost figure.

I tried to find the thread where the characters hair wasn't rendering, but can't find it...and also the thread about making a ghost.

At any rate, this is rather weird and has become the new thing to figure out.

DamNAitt-nabbit

- About to swap the whole cloak out....AND it's got a  weird ball above its head..

I also noticed that on another figure (ina different scene), there are three little grey balls at the base of their jacket.

It looked like some kind of indicators so I ignored them, but they showed up in the render. Weird artifacts.

I can't anser about the cloak's textures but the little balls are posing helpers. You can click and drag on the balls to move parts of the clothing around. You can either make them invisible by selecting the helpers in the material tab and setting the opacity to 0 or sometimes they are listed in the scene tab (I think as a bone) and you can click they eye eycon there to make them invisible.

Thanks. Man, that makes sense. I have no idea how the cloak lost its settings but never mind- good thing the PAs seem to like characters in hoods.

Oh wow, forgot this outfit was a no no. Loaded on my character again and it's invisible in the render but there in the scene- going through the Surface settings and seeing (no pun) if I can get it to render.

    What made this damn cloak?

Are you AutoFitting this to a diffrent figure? Are you rendering in Iray or 3Delight? I tried loading the cloak alone and fitting it to a new figure - both worked in Iray.

I gave up and uninstalled it. It was for some version of Michael on a Genesis 3 figure.

I got the posing balls to vanish, and tried to match settings between two different cloaks.

They weren't identical in the menus. I took notes on everything ---   Diffuse Color this, Surface that, Opacity strength,,, Bump Maps etc....it still didn't render and I lost two hours battling that stupid cloak..

I uninstalled it and grabbed two different cloaks, both on sale. A superhero one (awesome) and a fantasy one, just in case.

That's why I don't like buying legacy stuff and thinking "I'll work with it" I don't know enough (yet) to troubleshoot these kinds of issues.

Sorry to waste your time. New gear looks much better so I mentally recovered. lol
