Room Creator Exteriors by mclean

I'm creating a room with mclean's Room Creator Version 2 and Room Creator Exteriors, and am rendering with iray. Both before and after converting the outside walls surfaces to iray, the test renders I've done shows weird shadows and no matter what I do, I can't get rid of them. Also, there are no textures attached to the exterior side of the wall.
I buy and use content; I'm not a content creator so I don't know how to fix the problem. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Are you sure there is only one copy of the wall loaded?
When you converted the surfaces to Iray, did you check that Cutout Opacity for the unused wall surfaces is set to 0? I *think* what you're seeing is the other surfaces 'bleeding' through the siding. Remember that each exterior wall has multiple surfaces - siding, stone, etc - and the unused ones need to be fully invisible. I just tried a quick Iray conversion, and Cutout Opacity was NOT correctly set for those extra surfaces.
I'm not sure about the missing exterior textures. It depends on what you loaded and how you applied the Iray conversion. You have to hold CTRL to leave existing textures untouched. But you should stil be able to re-apply the texs using the presets.
Let me know how you get on.

PS Love the setup you're building! It looks great!
PPS I just noticed the floorboards. Try setting the Smoothing value to 43 or lower. It should improve them.
Richard: Yes to one copy of each wall loaded. Thank you :).
maclean: First, sorry I spelt your name wrong; no excuse here. As for the Cutout Opacity, thank you for letting me know as I didn't know. And, the floor isn't your prop but I will try that. Thank you. Even though I can't find components I'm after, both your Room Creator Version 2 and Room Creator Exteriors give me something close to what I'm trying to create :). I love them and am happy with my purchases.
Okay, due to that dark shading, I decided to open a new scene and load one of the exterior walls. Here, I have loaded 15_05 window horizontal. Even though the screenshot is iray preview, the prop has not been optimised for iray yet.
First image is where I have rotated the wall 180 on the yrot slider so the exterior wall is facing the camera (basically the same as in my original scene).
Second image is the following two surfaces recoloured to see what is colliding:
Green: 1exterior_siding
Red: wall_outer
If I set the wall-outer opacity to zero, then the interior wall shows through (see third image).
Blue: wall
Next, I selected all surfaces and, while holding the Control key down, I applied the iray Uber shader; after telling it to ignore changing textures (see fourth image with wall_outer still invisible)
Then, after all of the above, I thought about hiding 1exterior_siding and showing wall_outer (which is something I don't want to do because it is that siding that I want to use). But, as seen in the fifth image, parts of the interior wall (blue) shows through.
No matter what I do, I can't stop some sort of poke-through from showing when rendering with iray. If there are any other suggestions that can be done in Daz Studio, I'm eager for them.
Hi again,
This is getting pretty complex. I've done a few tests and I'm PMing you to let you know.

Thank you, maclean and sorry for the complexity.
For anyone else having this issue, I've found a way to get round it. I'm not entirely certain yet, but it seems to be something in the Iray renderer that doesn't like multiple overlaid materials.
1. Load the figure you're using (or select it in the scene) and convert the surfaces to Iray.
2. Go to Menu> Tools> Geometry Editor (ALT+SHIFT+G), then open the Tool Settings pane.
3. You'll see 2 expanded lists - Face Groups and Surfaces. The Surfaces list is in alphabetical order, so the first 7 entries are for the outer wall. So, suppose you want to use '2exterior_stone', click on the eye icon for the other 6 surfaces to make them invisible. In other words, leave the surface you're using visible, and switch off all the others.
That's it. I've done a bunch of tests with no problems, and KC Riley-Gyer has confirmed that it works too. I'm only sorry the customers have to do it, and it's not 'out-the-box', but it probably won't turn up in many scenarios, so I don't think it's a total show-stopper.

Even though I've said it before, thank you so much, maclean. At least I do have this work around.
Using maclean's instructions above, here is a partial test render of the results. I still have a few tweaks to do but you get the idea. And, just for fun, the second image is the other side of those walls.
